It’s hot out. I swear I haven’t seen the temperature drop below 90° in weeks, which has made getting dressed in the morning near impossible. I’m the type of person who loves summer, but hates getting dressed for it. I much more prefer to get dressed up in the fall/winter when I can layer sweaters and flannels, rock a beanie, and wear my Docs. I feel more comfortable and confident in myself when I can bundle up, but I’m certainly not going to wear a jacket and thick hat in this unbearable heat. To still feel my best, I’ve incorporated a few key pieces in my summer wardrobe to wear when it’s too hot to layer or wear some jeans. This pair of overalls from today’s look has (as of two days ago when I bought them) become my go-to for this crazy July weather.
The great thing about overalls is that they become the focal point of your outfit, which means you only need a few other pieces to create a put-together look. Plus they’re breathable – something super important for the season! I snagged these overalls from No Relation Vintage in NY, NY for a mere $10 (I must say I was pretty proud of myself for this purchase). They may or may not originally be from a maternity line at Old Navy, but regardless, they totally still work and look insanely adorable for a hot summer day.
To add to this look, I wore a plain black crop top from H&M underneath my overalls. I wore this top specifically because its high neckline added some serious dimension to my otherwise pretty plain outfit – I really liked the contrast between the two pieces. My black Adidas Sambas tied in with my black shirt and also added to my look a bit of a sporty twist (which we know I’m always a sucker for). To finish it all off, I wore my new clear frames that I scored for under $10 (thumbs up for bargain shopping!). I’ve really been into the whole clear glasses trend, and I think they were a perfect addition to this summery look.
Until next time, loves!
